ARTIST STATEMENT & OBJECTIVE

Doomed Movement (Terrence Hammond) is a 27-year old street artist, illustrator and creator based in Reno, Nevada. Using spray paint, pencil, and digital mediums, he paints/illustrates characters, flowers, and surrealistic nature pieces. Having grown up in the Reno/Tahoe area, Doomed Movement takes influence from the diverse environments around him. He uses flaura and fauna from the beauty of his travels, while at the same time uses urban graffiti and street art to help shape his work. Skateboarding and counter culture are also a huge part of his daily practices.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Public Art Technician (City of Reno)  Reno, NV March 2023 - Current

  • Working closely and collaborating with a small team that runs the public art programs for the City of Reno.

  • Simultaneously coordinating and installing five separate galleries featuring local and out of state artists. Including gallery receptions and gallery maintenance. 

  • Creating postcard/flyer images ready for print and advertising for the city art galleries.

  • Designing social media images and maintaining a website for the Arts and Culture Department. 

  • Prepping, maintaining, and cataloguing  walls and artworks for the city’s public art collection.

  • Writing press releases for gallery installations that are advertised across multiple platforms.

Creative Illustrator & Muralist Reno, NV March 2019 - Current

  • Professionally drawing and executing murals for the City of Reno, in local businesses, and on private, commissioned outdoor walls. 

  • Drafting contracts and proposals that present my vision, timelines, and budgets to potential clients and concluding in a mutual agreement about the art.

  • Continuous education and growth of painting techniques and street art execution through consistent practice, educational classes, collaborations with other artists, etc.

  • Attendance of City Council (Reno and Tahoe) meetings for approval of projects and budgets.

  • Digitally rendering and creating layouts, concepts, and design work for various projects and clients.

  • Creator and operator of a small, local business.

  • Ordering products and manufacturing my merchandise by hand through screen printing, stamp pressing, sewing, building, and various other methods, designed myself, and assisted by a small team of collaborators.
